Floridsdorf, Migration Education Conference

On Saturday, 30 May 2026, from 2.30 pm to 5.15 pm, we will be exploring ‘Methodological approaches to learning processes relating to the politics of memory in urban society’ at the symposium on migration education.

(Workshop Abstract) The project BAU STELLE ANTISEMITISMUS, developed by the praxisgemeinschaft hubin/schneider/schmutz, develops, implements and researches an educational tool addressing the antisemitism deeply rooted in Viennese society and its links to the tradition of anti-Muslim discrimination, anti-Slavism, racism, and the marginalisation and devaluation of people with a migrant background. It consists of mobile boxes that can be stacked on top of one another to serve as seating, appear at various locations across Vienna, and contain materials developed through a participatory urban research process. During the workshop, we invite you to explore selected sites of remembrance in the neighbourhood of the conference venue together, whilst testing methodological approaches that we have developed for the perception of public space and the handling of historical sources.

The Migration Education Conference will take place on 29 and 30 May 2026 at Brünner Straße 72, 1210 Vienna. During the workshop, we will head out into the public spaces of Floridsdorf, including Joseph-Samuel-Bloch-Park. More about the Fachtagung Migrationspädagogik.
