Stumbling – A city walk exploring crumbling narratives and speculative reinterpretations by the artist collective F.I.S.T.
What do you remember?
In Linz’s Volksgarten, participants use artistic research and history-mediation methods to weave together a tapestry of implicit and explicit historical knowledge. Using the monuments to Franz Stelzhamer, Turnvater Jahn and the Ring of the Nibelungs, connections are drawn between their artistic design, anti-Semitism and German nationalist ideas of nation-building and civic education. The resulting historical and political undercurrent of the Volksgarten is contrasted with the local community’s portrayal of the site.
